8-11-07 - 8-12-07 TMCA Cruise to Bayland Marina with Dinghy Regatta in harbor Well this cruise was to our own home marina Bayland so we didn't get to sail anywhere, and it was just as well since no one wanted to sail this weekend because it was too hot. We only had 3 boats show up and those had great air conditioning onboard. m/v La Mariposa, s/v Remedy and m/v Laurial were the boats that made it. The Dingy Regatta was canceled due to the heat. Saturday for happy hour we stayed in the cool air conditioning of m/v La Mariposa with George Danner as host and had a couple glasses of wine. Then for dinner we went to the restaurant at the marina now called The Barracuda Beach Club. The food was pretty good but not great. The visual entertainment was good though. We had a cute little waitress that had on a very loose low cut top on and no bra, and she would move around the table to each person and lean way over so everyone could get a good look at her boobs. It was fun entertainment, but she did it so much and she would lean over so far they would hang and kind of swing back and forth it started to give me the impression of a cow walking across a pasture. Too much of a good thing is not good HA! After dinner we ran to the air conditioning aboard m/v Laurial where our hosts were Lauri and Al Cusick and Ed Herndon made his famous mudslides. mmmm good! I still like those ha-ha! Great conversations and good times. We headed back to our boat and fired up the air conditioning and then turned in for the night, Sunday at the slip in Bayland Marina, We got up, and made our way up on the deck overlooking the marina where Margie started cooking breakfast tacos in an electric skillet. About 9:30 am everyone joined in for a great breakfast. Marion brought some cold orange juice and we sat in the shade of the deck talking until about 11am when everyone decided it was time to head for home. After everyone left I worked on the boat the rest of the afternoon. I marked the spot where we will mount the new boarding ladder. The new ladder is rated for 400 pounds and will have two steps down in the water so it should be easy to get back on the boat. The mount will be on the port side of the boat and I will have to modify the rub rail with some fiberglass. I also got the new stereo mounted in the cabin but not wired up yet. I am going to have to quit sailing for a while so I can get some work done on the boat so we are not planning any trips in the month of September so we can lay the mast down and do all the mast repairs and modifications. Even for a too hot weekend TMCA made this a great weekend and a lot of fun!! |
