The art of Inside Painted Bottles dates back to the Chinese Qing Dynasty when monks painted the inside of small snuff tobacco bottles with a sharp bamboo stick. The "painting brush" of the snuff bottle artist today is not very different from what the monks used. It is a slender bamboo stick, not much thicker, but much longer than a matchstick, with the tip shaped like a fine pointed hook. Dipped in colored ink and thrust inside the bottle, the hooked tip is used to paint on the interior surface of the bottle.
All of the bottles available here at VanB.biz shopping mall can be personalized with your name inside the bottle by our very own artist Jin VanBurkleo. She uses the very same techniques as the ancient monks to write your name inside the bottle. Your name can be written in Chinese or English.
